Taika Waititi’s second foray into the MCU is finally here with Thor: Love and Thunder. His last outing, Ragnarok, was universally loved by fans and critics. Sadly, this latest movie has received a far more mixed reception. Reviews landed all over the place, and the project got a B+ CinemaScore rating—which is relatively low for a Marvel affair. So, why is the movie getting this much criticism? Well, there are several factors, some of which are lackluster VFX, not enough of Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher, and an overload of jokes that to some simply don’t land....

As Marvel Studios prepares Ms. Marvel for its early June streaming debut, the team is also laying the groundwork for Kamala Khan’s next adventure in the MCU. Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel is set to follow up her Disney+ series with an appearance alongside Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers and Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau in The Marvels. The Captain Marvel follow-up will hit theater screens next July as Danvers and Rambeau take Kamala Kahn under their wing to take down a yet-to-be-known threat played by Zawe Ashton....

As audiences abandon traditional television, various streamers have experimented with how and when to release content; and for a time, the answer was the Netflix model where all episodes dropped at once. But when Disney+ launched in late 2019, it went traditional, releasing series episodes on a weekly basis that quickly became the new gold standard. Now, Marvel Studios is about to break the mold....

Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy are about to make an epic return to screens after a nearly three-year absence in the aftermath of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Star-Lord, Drax, Rocket, and the crew will play a small supporting role in Thor: Love and Thunder this summer before embarking on their third solo adventure in next year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. A new image from the production of Sony Pictures’ Madame Web teased what superpowers Dakota Johnson’s leading hero will have.Sony will open up its 2024 superhero slate with Madame Web as the studio works to regain favor with fans, delivering another big-screen comic book film with ties to the ever-popular Spider-Man lore. This will be the character’s first adaptation in any live-action format, becoming the fourth new hero/anti-hero to join Sony’s Spider-Man Universe after Venom, Morbius, and Kraven the Hunter....

Meanwhile, cars and trucks keep getting bigger and higher. It’s time to do something. Walking home from the store recently, I noticed that big shiny trucks were taking over the neighbourhood. Their hoods are taller than I am. They don’t look like work vehicles; the big cab means that the pickup beds are too small to carry a sheet of drywall, and they are spotlessly clean and polished. Meanwhile, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 6,283 people who walk were killed last year by people who drive, the highest number since 1990....

The Batman is inching closer to its theatrical release, meaning that marketing has been ramping up in the past weeks. The upcoming DCEU movie is directed by Matt Reeves, and it will feature the heroic debut of Robert Pattinson as a new version of the titular Dark Knight. The film has been confirmed to center around Bruce Wayne’s second year as Gotham’s protector, and it will see him pitted against Paul Dano’s Riddler....

In Baltimore and Toronto and many other cities, little gems are being lost. New housing is something that most cities are desperate for, and this project sounds like it probably fills a need: The problem, as Fred Scharmen tweets, is that “this all sounds great, but they’re proposing to tear down one of the best buildings in Baltimore.” And judging from the photo on top, it is a gem, definitely a keeper....

In this strangely beautiful satellite image captured by the NASA Earth Observatory, large-scale seaweed farms are visible through the clear water of South Korea’s southern coast. From many miles above, the seemingly neat and orderly “fields” are uncannily reminiscent of blurred blocks of text that you might find inside a book.
