In February of 2012, PETA discovered that Avon, Mary Kay, and Estee Lauder had resumed animal testing. The three companies had each been cruelty-free for over 20 years. Because China requires cosmetics to be tested on animals, all three companies now pay for their products to be tested on animals. For a short while, Urban Decay also planned to start animal testing but announced in July of 2012 that they would not test on animals and would not sell in China....

Over the past few weeks, Disney+ subscribers have had the opportunity to revisit the six shows from Netflix that make up Marvel’s Defenders series, which ran from 2015 to 2019. Although it’s come with some hiccups, the show’s inclusion on Disney+ has been a huge boost for the streaming service. Leading the way in that effort is Charlie Cox, the front-man in Marvel’s first Netflix series, Daredevil. Both Matt Murdock, the secret identity of the Man Without Fear, and the Kingpin, his archenemy, have made recent appearances in MCU projects, showing up in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hawkeye respectively. A recent update to an official character bio even seemed to confirm that the Matt Murdock seen in No Way Home was the very same that had gone on to become the “Devil of Hell’s Kitchen” in the Netflix series, but this connection was quickly removed....

Moon Knight is the MCU’s first small-screen project for 2022 on Disney+. The series features Oscar Isaac as the titular hero, with the actor playing multiple different roles due to the character’s dissociative identity disorder. While the comics heavily focused on Marc Spector, Moon Knight flips the page as it highlights Steven Grant instead to start. While Moon Knight usually works alone during missions, the character’s history in the comics shows that he has trusted allies through the years....

Morbius has finally arrived in theaters and things already don’t appear to be going well. Jared Leto’s vampire debut opened to the worst Thursday night box office haul since The New Mutants, which followed weeks of critical negativity and signs of the same from general audiences. Despite that, Morbius still managed to earn itself a mediocre 67% Rotten Tomatoes audience score at the time of writing. Sony’s Spider-Man Universe has always struggled to land with critics, as was proven by the Rotten status given to both Venom movies, and yet they seemed to land well with audiences....

Ms. Marvel is set to introduce a new MCU hero into the mix, but in the past months, the series’ release timeline has been making headlines online. The COVID-19 pandemic instigated a domino effect that led to numerous delays for Marvel films and shows, such as the Iman Vellani-led series. When it comes to Lucasfilm’s slate of Star Wars Disney+ projects, Obi-Wan Kenobi has always had the high ground. For years, Star Wars fans have been curious about the Jedi Master’s years of exile between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope; and from what was shown in the series’ first trailer, Obi-Wan Kenobi will be well worth the wait. In addition to Ewan McGregor reprising his role as the prequel trilogy’s Obi-Wan Kenobi, Hayden Christensen has returned to play Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader....

It’s perhaps the best of the plastic foam insulations, but it is still a solid fossil fuel. The best way to have our buildings use less energy is to insulate them really well. But for a long time, I have also been writing about the problems of insulating with plastic foam, even writing that Polystyrene insulation doesn’t belong in green building. It’s been quite the wild ride for Spider-Man fans for some time beginning with the shocking announcement that Jamie Foxx would be returning as Electro in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The Batman is set to showcase a whole new take on The Dark Knight mythos by featuring Robert Pattinson as the titular DC hero. The upcoming solo film is directed by Matt Reeves, and it features an all-star cast alongside Pattinson that includes Paul Dano as The Riddler, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon. The exact plot details of the movie are still shrouded in secrecy, but several interesting tidbits have emerged over the past year....
