Luke Skywalker once said that “No one’s ever really gone,” and that couldn’t be more true in terms of the controversy surrounding Disney’s Star Wars sequel trilogy. In the years following J.J. Abrams’ The Rise of Skywalker, fan opinion has yet to improve amidst a steady stream of reveals about the trilogy’s uncoordinated production, its two different directors, and the lack of a cohesive plan from Lucasfilm. And, even though live-action Star Wars has found new life on Disney+ through The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, admissions about The Last Jedi’s Rian Johnson’s lack of interest in The Force Awakens’ villainous Snoke and Rey’s continuously changing parentage have continued to make news and confirmed what fans suspected all along....

San Diego Comic-Con featured a panel from Marvel Studios in Hall H on Saturday evening that mapped out the majority of Phases 5 and 6 for the MCU when it comes to theatrical releases and Disney+ exclusive series. Many fans expected some sort of team-up movie featuring the Young Avengers to be announced at the convention due to so many new and youthful faces being introduced into the franchise during Phase 4....

To finish off its 2021 slate of projects, Marvel Studios ended the year with the conclusion of Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye series on Disney+, and it came with some huge reveals in Episode 6. Much of this centered around the long-awaited debut of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, who is now officially MCU canon after the actor reprised the role he made so popular in Netflix’s Daredevil from 2015 to 2018. D’Onofrio spent the entire season subtly-but-not-so-subtly teasing that his Wilson Fisk was the man behind all the mayhem, which came as early as Episode 3 with Maya Lopez’s mysterious uncle from the flashback sequence....

Marvel Studios utilized Super Bowl LVI perfectly to build incredible hype for its Phase 4 slate coming in 2022. While the headliner was the magical mayhem coming in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, fans also got a new look at the year’s first Disney+ show, Moon Knight. Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke are set to lead the way in this six-episode adventure, one that opens the door to new possibilities in the MCU....

After a long dilemma with Disney that led to a recent stint at DC, James Gunn is coming back to the MCU this year as work gets underway on the long-awaited Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and accompanying Disney+ holiday special. Filming is currently happening in Atlanta bringing the whole Guardians gang back in action - including Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, Dave Bautista’s Drax, and more. The Disney+ holiday spectacular and the big-screen blockbuster threequel will be filmed back to back, setting up the streaming special for a festive season release before the Guardians return to theaters in May 2023....

Chris Hemsworth’s Thor has gone up against his fair share of terrifying villains in the MCU throughout the past 11 years. The God of Thunder’s first three films largely centered on family drama with Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Cate Blanchett’s Hela. Now, Thor: Love and Thunder looks to pit him against arguably his biggest challenge yet in Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher. In 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, Hemsworth’s hero had to deal with his vengeful half-sister Hela after she was imprisoned in hell for thousands of years, leading her to destroy Asgard before her apparent death....

Warner Bros. is going through some major strategic changes thanks to the company’s merger with Discovery, particularly with regard to its future programs across the DC universe. The company’s tentpole movie The Flash is somewhat in limbo for the time being, and fans have already seen a couple of projects cut from development, including The Wonder Twins. After moving towards lesser-known characters like John Cena’s Peacemaker, The Wonder Twins was set to follow that same path of bringing in heroes who had never been utilized in live-action storytelling before....
