WandaVision was a series filled with twists, turns, and surprises from beginning to end. However, by far the biggest shock moment of the series was Evan Peters’ surprise appearance as — what turned out to be — a fake version of Wanda’s deceased brother Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver.

However, what would the writers have done if they were unable to get Evan Peters for the role? That’s a question that the series’ creator answered in a recent interview.
NO OTHER FOR EVAN PETERS’ PIETRO
An interview with WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer published by The New York Times revealed new details of Evan Peters’ return to the role of Quicksilver — or the fake one at least — in the MCU series.
The writer was asked if it was “a certainty that’d you’d be able to get Evan Peters…to play the show’s fake Pietro?” Schaeffer said the casting was an “enormous question mark for a very long time” as it took “a while to figure out if it would be possible,” going on to praise the actor’s talent:
Additionally, Schaeffer was questioned as to the “backup plan” if the casting fell through. While she explained there were some scenes that were written in the case she couldn’t “have that toy,” in the particular case of Peters, there “wasn’t a plan B:”
“It was an enormous question mark for a very long time. And it took a while to figure out if it would be possible. It was late that it was finally confirmed that we could do it. But we were writing for it. Evan is such a chameleon in that way, that could play an amalgamation of Uncle Jesse [from ‘Full House’], Nick [from ‘Family Ties’] and Joey from “Friends.” He could play those layers.”
IS RALPH THE FOX QUICKSILVER AFTER ALL?
Could Schaeffer’s comments perhaps that there is more to the Quicksilver mystery after all? If ‘Fietro’ is a totally new character as the show revealed, why would it be so important for Evan Peters play the role?
“The ground is often shifting, and sometimes that’s how the amazing things occur. There are a couple of scenes that I wrote that I’m like, ‘This is genius!’ And then it was like, ‘No, you can’t have that toy.’ You find a different toy that suits your show better. But there wasn’t a Plan B on that. There were just very, very intense hopes and dreams, and they were met.”
If the intention was to simply include a fake version of Pietro to mislead Wanda, the MCU Quicksilver actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson would be a much simpler choice with less explanation required. Perhaps the writer’s intention was to misdirect the viewers into creating wild multiverse theories.
“The Series Finale” left many unanswered questions especially relating to Ralph Bohner, potentially indicating he may return down the line in a future MCU project.
